Motion of the POR delegate on the recognition of the GCI (rejected)

The Third World Congress of the Fourth International accepts the political criterion of unifying our groups in Argentina within a single organization. To this end, and so as not to allow the present division of the Latin American movement to obstruct the application of the international and Latin American policy adopted by the world congress, the congress decides:

I. Given its organizational seriousness and its attachment to the International both organizationally and politically, the GCI is recognized as the official section of the International, this recognition constituting the best guarantee that the line approved by the world congress will be applied.

II. This recognition of the GCI does not signify acceptance of the policy of the tendency represented by the GCI; it signifies the best means of providing a way out of the present disorganization of the Argentine Trotskyist movement.

III. The POR, as well as any other Argentine Trotskyist organization that has demonstrated serious and responsible militant activity toward the Fourth International, may join the official section of the International. New members will not be permitted to form factions within the section, nor to obstruct the application of the political line laid down by the section.

IV. The GCI shall change its name; this is intended to prevent old questions from being raised.

V. The Argentine section of the Fourth International shall hold a national congress within a period of six months to one year at the latest.
