Declaration of the Majority of the Central Committee on the Vote on the Orientation Resolution
Why the Central Committee and the party will apply the "General Orientation Resolution of the French Section"
The adoption by the Third World Congress of the international theses rejected by the party's Seventh Congress justified the drafting of a document applying the positions of the world congress to the French situation. At the French commission of the world congress, the party leadership had refused to accept a first draft, not because of its political meaning — which was in conformity with the decisions of the world congress — but because of errors concerning the party's Seventh Congress and imprecisions that made its application difficult. The Political Bureau and the IS worked together at length to eliminate these two defects.
The resulting document is not a compromise document but expresses, on the one hand, the position adopted by the Third World Congress and, on the other, the unreserved will of the majority of the Central Committee to apply this line and to have it assimilated by the party. The disagreements over the theses of the world congress were settled by the world congress. Whatever the opinion of this or that comrade may be, democratic centralism requires everyone to make the decisions of the world congress the party's line of action. To perpetuate this discussion indefinitely has no meaning and would risk hindering the party's development. The disagreements that remain will be settled by the practical activity of the party and of the International, and within the framework of discussions organized around the problems posed by life.
